Return to History of the Boys’ Brigade

125 Years of Boys’ Brigade

The 5th West Bromwich Company celebrated the 125th Anniversary of the founding of The Boys’ Brigade over the weekend of the 11th and 12th October 2008.

Saturday 11th October 2008
The whole company went to an adventure centre, (the Old Vicarage Adventure Centre at Stottesdon), where they took part in many activities including orienteering, gladiator jousting, challenge zone and water porter.

Sunday 12th October 2008
The Company led the morning service at Wesley in West Bromwich, a Dr Who theme helped them to travel back in time to the founding of The Boys’ Brigade in 1883, and then to travel forwards to today and beyond stopping at significant dates in the BB history. The service ended with everyone outside the front of the Church where 125 balloons were let off in celebration.
In the afternoon, all sections took part in a sponsored walk around a 1.2 mile course in the Sandwell Valley, West Bromwich. Between the Company we walked 125 miles. The money raised will be sent to The Boys’ Brigade selected charity for the 2008/09 session, the Association of Children’s Hospices.
