After the Family Service in October a number of Company Section lad’s stayed behind and continued the work on the garden. The boy’s levelled off the area around and inside the plastic bottle greenhouse and then covered it with gravel.
The lads also planted around 600 purple crocus bulbs along the fence line and in the pots, that were kindly donated by Hilary Pugh on behalf of the Rotary Crocus Campaign. The Rotary Crocus is one of the leading international fundraisers for the End Polio Now Campaign. Since 2012 Rotary Crocus Campaign have raised around £1,000,000. The Crocus was chosen as the purple colour matched the dye painted on the fingers of children who have been immunised.
Since Rotary launched the Grow Your Own Crocus project in November 2013 nearly 500 schools and youth groups in the UK have taken part. We were pleased to play our part in this important campaign.
