YES, WE DID IT!
On Sunday 13th May 2012, boys and officers of the 5th walked the 10 mile route from Rookery Park in Erdington around the outer circle bus route and finishing in Kings Heath Park as part of this years Walk for Harry organised by Free radio.
The boys Liam Fearon, Ricardo Blake, Matthew Woodcock, Kadeem Brown, Kairo Saulter, Stuart Kirk, Tyler Carr, Caleb Woodhall, Thomas Harper and Hakeem Baker were joined by Kirsty Dixon, Julie Dixon,
Andrew Henson and Rory Green for the 10 miles. Everyone completed the walk on time and were all in high spirits at the end. Kirsty was also interviewed at the finish line by Foxy, the radio presenter from Free radio. The boys were a credit to the 5th.
Not only were we doing the walk for Harry we were also doing it for one of our boys, Jack Forrest Sadler who has recently returned home following receiving treatment in America. Jack had spent time in Birminghams Children’s Hospital before Christmas and we all wanted to do something that would show our support for Jack and his family.
Walk for Harry will help raise funds for two charities close to Harry’s heart. One will support the brain tumour research project being led at Birmingham Children’s Hospital by Harry’s consultant Dr. Andrew Peet.
The other is the refurbishment of Acorns Children’s Hospice in Selly Oak where Harry spent a few days in a special bedroom until his funeral, after sadly passing away.
All of the money raised will be split between these two charities.
If you would still like to sponsor us please feel free to contact any officer.
